Ann Gibson is an Artist and recent BA (Hons) Contemporary Art Practice graduate from City of Glasgow College. Ann’s creative practice spans the diverse disciplines of painting, collage, and sound and video installation. She is inspired by colour and as a painter, she uses a variety of media on a range of different surfaces, which can include found or upcycled materials.
Music and history are strong underpinnings in her work and the concept of memory is a unifying factor in the different elements of her practice. The use of recycled materials is instinctive, a re-discovered desire to make good use of available resources, a habit learned in childhood and now fitting very well in the Zeitgeist.
The work presented here bridges the 18 months from before the pandemic till the present and reflects the altered reality of life during lockdown.
